2nd Night in Waco

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2016

We spent last night in Waco, reserving again at a Quality Inn and driving first to the Waco Lake Wetlands where we did a bit of birding. The Wetlands was closed for Sunday, but we found some teal and Northern Shovelers on a nearby lake, saw a Brown Thrasher, and managed to walk a short piece of trail. On the way out we came across a tree full of vultures (cell phone shot left). This time we stayed at the new Quality Inn in Waco. The guy at the front desk was very helpful, directing us to the nearest place to eat, a Roadhouse restaurant. It was my first time in one. Our meals were nicely prepared but I did not enjoy all the noise from the multiple televisions broadcasting different, simultaneous sports events, and the loud country western music on the PA system. When we got back to the motel, we did a load of laundry with a gratis cup of detergent from “our man” at the front desk.
